How Does Application Platform as a Service Reduce IT Expenditure for Companies?

When the COVID-19 pandemic took a serious form, putting the world under a lockdown seemed the best option to mitigate its spread. This resulted in work-from-home policies, which a lot of companies are still following in 2021 and may continue to follow for a significant time in 2022. Moreover, since people were not allowed to step out of their homes except for essential stuff, the traffic on the internet rose massively, as people began watching news and movies, listening to songs, playing video games, and shopping online.

For the convenience of users and seeing the increasing penetration of the internet and smartphones, companies are coming up with mobile and desktop applications. This is one of the key reasons P&S Intelligence forecasts that the aPaaS market revenue will grow from $6,023.3 million in 2020 to $22,687.3 million by 2030, at a 14.2% CAGR between 2021 and 2030 (forecast period).

This is because developing mobile and desktop applications is an expensive and time-taking process. Conventionally, experienced coders and programmers are required for the process, and the more innovative the app, the more complex is the coding. In today’s time, delays in deploying apps can end up costing millions to companies, especially those in the banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) and retail sectors.

Hence, to save time and money, companies are moving away from the lengthy and complicated coding process to low-code development. In this method, developers can access a drag-and-drop-approach program, where they can pick pre-coded components of applications and then, just put them together to create the final app. This not only quickens up the process, but also allows those with little programming knowledge to create apps, thus helping companies save substantial sums.

Moreover, since aPaaS makes low-code development platforms accessible via the cloud, companies’ requirement for the expensive IT infrastructure reduces, which leads to more cost savings. Therefore, as people become more connected, the demand for aPaaS is only going to increase.
